The Diama Dam FUNCTION: An anti-salt structure designed to allow for: • The irrigation of 120 000 ha; • The improvement of the filling conditions of a number of lakes and depressions such as the lakes of Guiers and R'kiz and the Aftout-Es-Saheli depression, • The improvement of potable water supply to populations • The regeneration of the vegetal coyer and the reviving of humid zones (nutural reserves of Djoudj and Diawling) • lncreased fish resources. Structures ancilary and / or auxiliary to the two main dams • The Manantali reservoir; • The left and right bank dykings; • water intake and/or filling structures for depressions and topographically low lands; • The access roads to the Diama and Manantali dams as weil as the Diarna-Rosso road link 7
