OBJECTIVES The OMVS multimodal transport Integrated System (SITRAM) constit utes an integral part of the Organization's development programme. Its purpose is t o achieve: • Consistency of said programme, • valor ization of t he river's natura l function, • strengthening regional integration through massification of movements and exchanges, • development of a sub-regional transport system that inte– grates ail modes of land transport, combined with naviga– tion as a main backbone; • opening up of production and consumption areas in the basin, sites of existing dams and sites of contemplated hydraulic structures; • strengt hening of production and trade sectors (agriculture, livestock, fisher ies, mining, handicraft, and tourism); • The conditions required for sustained economic growth; • A sound and social living environment (reduction of carbon dioxide) . PROGRAMME COMPONENTS • Component 1: Navigation on the Senegal River; • Component 2: Access Road to the Manantali Dam; • Component 3: Rosso - Diama Road Iink; • Component 4: Labé-Tougué-Dinguiraye-Siguiri Road link : Implementati on of the above components has been cost esti– mated t o : CFA.F 155.165 billion, corresponding to US$344.811 million.
